Borup Heath

Distance: 18.11 Km

Borup Hede and Simested Å

Borup Hede is a particularly beautiful heath and winding river valley with Simested Å.

Borup Hede is a beautiful heath area that is naturally cared for with grazing sheep. The heath is a small remnant of the extensive heathland areas that covered large parts of Himmerland until the end of the 1800th century. A small nature trail has been marked and an information board has been set up.

The two largest mounds in the area, Galgehøj and Tinghøj, were presumably built in the Stone Age. Their names tell of their use in the Middle Ages as outdoor places of business and trials.

There is a parking space and hiking trail.
