Bananparken is a cozy park in Viborg's west town. The park has an area of 1,8 ha and functions as an ornamental park and ball field, but also as a supplement to the outdoor areas at the local children's institutions.

Banana Park

The park is named after the banana-shaped beds, which contain a varied collection of ornamental shrubs and individual trees that encircle the ball field.

Viborg Municipality uses Bananparken as a gene bank in collaboration with Danish Agricultural Research. Here, plant material is tested that can not yet be bought at nurseries, with the aim of designating healthy, robust and decorative plants suitable for Danish conditions.
