Jutland's oldest royal monument

The rediscovered tomb monument has the shape of a ship, and has been used for a funeral ritual for a powerful person - perhaps a king or queen? Gold has been found in the middle of the shipwreck. Ornamentation on the gold also shows that the burial took place around the year 600.

The buzz of history by the river Gudenåen

Archaeologists from Moesgaard Museum have rediscovered the burial monument and reconstructed the impressive 80-meter-long shipwreck.

The Iron Age monument is located right by the Gudenåen and Trækstien, so there is plenty of opportunity to combine your visit with a nice walk or canoe trip.

Find Høj Stene by parking at Kongensbro by the Gudenåen River . Then walk along the river on the Trækstien - you will be able to see the monument on your right.
