A historic garden in Viborg

The Latin Garden is located in Viborg's old town, close to Viborg Cathedral. The garden was previously part of Viborg Latin School and was later taken over by the city.

Today you can walk among flowers, perennials, rhododendrons and snapdragons or take a break on one of the garden benches.

The Rector's Gazebo and the Lion's Well

In the garden stands the listed Rector's Gazebo from 1780, which bears witness to the garden's connection to the Latin School. You can also see the Lion's Well, designed by architect Frederik Jensen.

People from Viborg's history

The Latin Garden contains a bust of the author Steen Steensen Blicher and a memorial plaque for the ornithologist H. Chr. C. Mortensen, also known as Fuglemortensen.

A green stop in the old town

The garden is a quiet place in the middle of Viborg's historic center. Combine your visit with a walk through the Cathedral Quarter and along Sct. Mogens Gade.
